The Role

  This position is a Technical Career Ladder position within the Subsea Group. This team provides technology solutions for business units to support operations and new field development throughout the world. The group focuses on the development and integration of subsea production systems and technology into capital projects. The Subsea Controls Engineer is responsible for the specification of, construction, integration, testing, and installation of subsea control systems and umbilicals. The position is also responsible for interfaces with subsea tree, manifold, jumper connections and topsides.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Subsea Integration Team Leader
  • Will direct the development of specifications for production subsea control systems and umbilicals.
  • This includes accommodation for chemical injection requirements, downhole cabling for the SCSSV
  • Also, downhole data acquisition requirements, and production/injection choke requirements
  • Will direct and assist in the development of testing, installation, operation, and maintenance procedures
  • Coordinate the work of contractors to design, manufacture, and test subsea control systems and umbilicals
  • Capable of serving as a subsea peer review candidate for VIP
  • Ensure interfaces issues are addressed with the subsea tree, manifold, ROVs, installation contractor, and MIR procedures
  • Participates in Interface & Risk Management activities
  • Including identify and properly manage and mitigate risks during design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Participates in HES work team and contractors to achieve an incident and injury free culture.
  • Ensure project HES goals are achieved
  • Provides technical support for permitting/regulatory activities
  • Maintain a log of operations events, lessons learned reports, and subsea change notices
  • Maintain an overview of the control system and umbilical schedule
  • Includes identifing any weaknesses in procedures, workforce, safety, or planning to detect, address, and take remedial action
  • Stay abreast of new technology developments related to subsea control systems and umbilicals and all interfaces.
